Istituto di Scienze Polari (Institute of Polar Sciences)<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_blurb][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”3_4″ _builder_version=”4.23″ _module_preset=”default” custom_padding=”|20px||5px|false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.23″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n Within the Regional Research Campus Roma 1 (ARRM1) several institutes conduct research on the topics of the environment and sustainability and Earth Observation. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n The expertise present on campus is extremely diverse, which allows it to support a variety of activities ranging from the study and understanding of geological processes to the assessment and mitigation of natural hazards, from the integrated and sustainable management of water and natural resources to the study of biodiversity and functionality of aquatic ecosystems, from the study of pollutants in the atmosphere<\/span> to understanding the direct and indirect effects of climate change in ecosystems and developing strategies for their mitigation. There are also extensive activities more closely related to human activities, which focus on the application of the circular economy to water purification, waste chain efficiency, characterization, securing and remediation of contaminated sites and environments, and more generally the protection of the territory, health and safety of citizens, including through environmental monitoring, both earth based and from satellites (e.g., remote sensing). <\/span><\/p>\n In addition to participation in numerous European and International projects, covering basic and applied research topics, the staff also collaborates with companies operating locally and nationally in order to transfer skills and technologies<\/span>,<\/span> as well as scientific and technical support activities to institutions. <\/span> <\/p>\n Achievements on cross-cutting issues such as knowledge of the surrounding territory, sustainability, and environmental quality are disseminated to the public through the CNR’s multidisciplinary scientific network.<\/span>know-how<\/span><\/i> highly qualified and respond to requests and needs expressed by different stakeholders.
