Biodigester
With a handling capacity of up to 25 kg/day of FORSU (organic fraction of urban solid waste), the digester produces biogas, composed mainly of CH4 and CO2 with a typical CH4 percentage of 60-70%, and digested mass.
The anaerobic digester is based on a plant consisting of four parts: an initial pre-treatment section of sorting, shredding and screening; the actual digestion phase with biogas production; the composting section, where aerobic composting of the solid residue takes place with the production of compost; and finally the biogas storage and utilization section.
The process for biogas production involves biomass undergoing anaerobic digestion by microbial consortia that carry out hydrolysis, acidification and methanation reactions resulting in biogas production.
