Istituto di Scienze del Patrimonio Culturale (Institute of Cultural Heritage Sciences)
In the ARRM1 campus several Institutes carry out multidisciplinary activities in the field of Cultural Heritage, among them:
the Istituto di Scienze del Patrimonio Culturale (ISPC -Institute of Cultural Heritage Sciences) has a mission to pursue scientific excellence and foster innovation in the knowledge, conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage through collaborative research involving humanities, experimental sciences and technological applications.
The macro research areas of the CNR-ISPC (all found in ARRM1) are:
- Knowledge of tangible and intangible Cultural Heritage
- Cultural Heritage Diagnostics and Conservation
- Sustainable management, enhancement and enjoyment of the
- Cultural Heritage
- Research infrastructure, technology clusters and competence centers for Heritage Sciences.
The Istituto di Geologia ambientale e Geoingegneria (Institute of Environmental Geology and Geoengineering), has a mission which involves the study and understanding of geological and natural processes and anthropogenic activities that interact with the environment, activities and human life. The Geoarcheologia e Archeometria (Geoarchaeology and Archaeometry) GeoArc laboratory brings together and integrates all the scientific and technical skills and analytical instrumentation of IGAG from Earth Sciences and Engineering putting them at the service of archaeology.
In addition to these Institutes individual projects are implemented by researchers from the Istituto per la Ricerca sulle Acque (Institute for Water Research), the Istituto di Scienze Polari (Institute of Polar Sciences) and the Istituto per lo Studio dei Materiali Nanostrutturati (Institute for the Study of Nanostructured Materials), which, in an interdisciplinary approach, investigate specific aspects of the application of science for the study, enhancement and conservation and study of cultural heritage.
