Istituto di Struttura della Materia (Institute of Structure of Matter)
On the ARRM1 campus there are a number of research institutes, belonging to different departments of the CNR, working on the study of the functionality, properties, fundamental knowledge and technological use of matter. Combining expertise in physics with various disciplines such as chemistry, biology and engineering, these groups research new materials for nanotechnologies, microsensors, micro- and nano-devices.
Researchers on the ARRM1 campus have a long tradition in materials characterization ranging from common laboratory investigations to large-scale characterizations. These skills are also enriched by developing capabilities in materials synthesis and physical deposition as well as prototype fabrication to exploit advanced material peculiarities at the application level.
Innovative materials are researched and developed for sectors such as Energy Environment, Cultural Heritage, Fundamental Research, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Security, and Health Wellness, Manufacturing.
ARRM1 also provides an environment where a new generation of scientists and technologists, such as undergraduates, doctoral students, and postdoctoral fellows can train in a professional setting, with access to various materials investigation facilities.
