“Where water flows, equality flourishes” – IRSA event

On the occasion of World Water Day, IRSA organizes an event with Dr. Subhoshmita Mondal – March 20, 11 a.m.

On the occasion of World Water Day, a seminar was organized on March 20 at 11:00 a.m. dedicated to the theme of the relationship between access to water, women’s empowerment and gender equality, summarized in the event’s title “Where Water Runs, Equality Grows.”

In many areas of the world, lack of access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation contributes to amplifying social and economic inequalities. In these contexts, it is often women who bear the brunt of these deficiencies, with significant consequences for their education, health and participation in economic and social life.

The seminar will provide an opportunity to explore these issues through a presentation of the activities of the Indian NGO Swadhina, which has been active since 1986 in promoting women’s empowerment in India’s rural villages. The organization works to promote women’s access to land and water resources while supporting economic initiatives related to sustainable agriculture.

The meeting will be given by Dr. Subhoshmita Mondal, a former staff member of our institute and currently a Swadhina volunteer.
Saswati Patnaik, director of the organization, will also participate and will speak to present the NGO’s activities and dialogue with participants.

The event is open to all and will be streamed via the Microsoft Teams platform, subject to registration.
