Area Infrastructure
IDEA
The IDEA Project (LaboratorIo Diffuso arEa ricercA RM1) stems from the common interest of the CNR Institutes based at the ARRM1 campus to foster collaboration in the campus, identifying equipment and facilities available at the individual Institutes and making them accessible in a single infrastructure to both internal and external users, with a view to a specific technical-scientific collaboration agreement (Prot. no. 0305425) signed on 16/10/2023 by the Directors of the CNR Institutes of ARRM1.
"A. Liberti" Observatory
Since the 1970s in the “Arnaldo Liberti” Observatory, located at the ARRM1 campus , air quality measurements, studies on the main air pollutants and validation of pollutant sampling and analysis methods have been carried out.
Greenhouses
There are two greenhouses in the area, available to all institutes but under the scientific management of IRET (Istituto di Ricerca sugli Ecosistemi Terrestri – Institute of Terrestrial Ecosystem Research).
Mesocosms
The research infrastructure, managed by IRET, consists of a series of mesocosms that allow the growth of plants on a pilot-scale for semihydroponics for phytoremediation studies.
E-RHIS
E-RIHS it (www.e-rihs.it) is the distributed research infrastructure (RI) for Heritage Sciences in Italy and
represents the national initiative of E-RIHS – European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science(www.e-rihs.eu)
ERIHS.it was formally established in 2018 as a Joint Research Unit and was recognized as a potential infrastructure of pan-European interest.
Biodigester
A small anaerobic digestion plant, a biodigester, is installed within the Area, which uses organic waste from the cafeteria as its feed source.
Area Services
Library
The ARRM1 Library, founded in 1973, preserves, makes available and manages a large collection of scientific journals spanning multidisciplinary topics.
The titles held are searchable in the opac system: of the project PolarCnr, ACNP (Italian Periodicals Catalogue) and SBN (National Bibliographic Service) – EVE of the Science Cluster which include periodicals and monographs held in print or electronic editions. The catalogs include some old data from Institutes formerly belonging to the Area and new contributions due to transfers of Institutes.
The library is a vital organ of ARRM1. In fact, it is actively involved in a variety of events including the European Researchers’ and Women Researchers’ Night, Invitations to Read, Bibliopride and Call4ideas.
Cafeteria
The cafeteria service of the ARRM1 campus can accommodate 150 diners intended for area employees and external users, who can choose from a wide variety of dishes provided by the service. The daily menu is enriched with traditional Italian dishes at particular times of the year. Cafeteria service is available between 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. and is operated in the ARRM1 shared area. Adjacent to the cafeteria premises is a coffee shop open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., a great place to have a tasty breakfast, coffee or a quick snack. The management of the catering services adheres to a strict respect for the environment. The proper functioning of these services is ensured by a dedicated cafeteria committee.
Conference Room
The ARRM1 campus has a conference room that can accommodate up to 120 participants. The environment is equipped with all the necessary facilities and equipment to hold conferences, seminars, assemblies, and meetings even in hybrid presence/remote mode. In addition to audio-visual media equipment, our conference hall is equipped with spaces for setting up poster sessions, areas for light lunches and coffee breaks, a secretarial room, a control room, and an internet point.
The equipment is enhanced by an IT infrastructure with internet connections for organizing video conferences. A personal computer with the Windows operating system and a video projection system are available for booking. The availability of ample parking and proximity to the train station offer users and organizers belonging to the CNR network and external users a significant logistical advantage for conference and event participation.
