The Rome 1 Territorial Research Area of CNR Montelibretti enthusiastically launches the I4SCIENCE – Innovation, Imagination, Integration, Impact of Science project for the European Researchers’ Night 2024, an event that will be associated with those promoted by the European Commission. This ambitious project aims to strengthen ties with the local area and expand science outreach by engaging the public through innovative and engaging activities.
The I4SCIENCE project, submitted under the Horizon Europe Call HORIZON-MSCA-2023-CITIZENS-01, is structured around four keywords that reflect the values and goals of this initiative:
- Imagination: Science is fueled by the ability to imagine the new, the possible and the invisible. With interactive workshops, demonstrations and creative activities, we invite the public to explore how imagination can drive scientific research and discovery.
- Innovation: Science is behind many of the innovations that have transformed our world. Through seminars and meetings with researchers, ‘I4SCIENCE’ will put innovations in different fields, showing how science is a driving force for progress.
- Integration: Science knows no boundaries. Integration of different disciplines and collaboration between different institutes, institutions and citizens are key to addressing global challenges. The project emphasizes the importance of scientific and cultural cooperation, at all levels, by promoting inclusive activities for all ages.
- Impact of Science: Science has a profound impact on society, from the environment to health, from materials to technology. Through thematic discussions and talks, ‘I4SCIENCE’ will invite the public to reflect on the importance of scientific research and its role in building a more sustainable future.
I4SCIENCE sees the involvement of 11 different Institutes of the Rome 1 Territorial Research Area of the CNR – the Institute of Agricultural Biology and Biotechnology (IBBA), the Institute of Crystallography (IC), the Institute of Environmental Geology and Geoengineering (IGAG), the Institute on Atmospheric Pollution (IIA), the Institute for Research on Terrestrial Ecosystems (IRET), the Institute for Research on Water (IRSA), the Institute for Biological Systems (ISB), the Institute of Structure of Matter (ISM), the Institute for the Study of Nanostructured Materials (ISMN), the Institute of Polar Sciences (ISP), the Institute of Cultural Heritage Sciences (ISPC), along with the Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology (IBBC), the Institute for The European Intellectual Lexicon and History of Ideas (ILIESI), and the Institute of Science and Technology for Sustainable Energy and Mobility (STEMS). I4SCIENCE will therefore offer a unique multidisciplinary experience to bring science closer to all age groups and to stimulate curiosity and passion for research.
We will also collaborate with other partners, including the Monti Lucretili Regional Natural Park, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), the Municipality of Montereale Valcellina (PN), the Municipality of Monterotondo (RM), the Municipality of Montelibretti (RM), the Museum of the River – of the Municipality of Nazzano, Rome Technopole, the Cultural Associations SCOOL and ADAMAS Science, theAstor club, a Roman club federated with the Automotoclub Storico Italiano (ASI), made up of historic vehicle enthusiasts, and the Fire Brigade Operational Training School of Montelibretti (RM).
